Stillwater church of Christ Youth Ministry
A Vision for Youth Discipleship
“Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”—Colossians 1:28–29
PURPOSE - Why do you exist?
We exist to supplement the family in their efforts to lay a spiritual foundation that, in God's timing, will lead our youth into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. As an extended family of Jesus, we also exist to provide additional settings where youth can grow in their knowledge and love for God.
MISSION - What are you going to do?
Our Mission is to equip parents and volunteers to impact the world through reaching and teaching youth. Sunday morning and Wednesday classes for youth will be the primary vehicle for Biblical teaching. We will also seek to provide faith-nurturing programs that fit the needs of the youth and support home-based training. These activities will be designed to provide positive learning and ministry experiences which will complement the teaching received in the home along with what is taught and experienced Sunday morning and Wednesday night. We also want to grow and develop peer relationships and encourage them to take refuge in Christ and His body, the church.
VISION - What will it look like when you are done?
We want an ever-growing number of young woman and men to visit our church, and find a place where they feel loved, come to know Christ, and continue to grow through life-changing experiences. We seek to have God use this ministry to actively influence the hearts of the youth, so by grace they might become men and women of faith who know God, His glorious attributes, and His infinite glory. The vision is to aide in producing faithful followers of Christ who love the Bible, affirm its infallible worth, and grow in their abilities to understand, express, and defend its teachings. This ministry seeks to guide the youth in their understanding of how to worship the Lord with their heads and their hearts, how to practice the spiritual disciplines, and to help them grow in faith so they are eager and passionate to seek and win the lost.
We want to equip and mobilize the church for winning and raising youth who:
• grow in Christ and in spiritual maturity
• are firmly established in faith and doctrine
• discover, develop, and fruitfully use their gifts
• passionately embrace and pursue a God-centered vision for their lives
• meaningfully engage in worship, study, prayer, and ministry
• apply a robust and biblical vision for manhood and womanhood
• live courageously in the world even under pressure to conform
• are spiritually-fruitful men and women who are devoted to spreading the Gospel of Christ
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.” Amen.—Ephesians 3:20–21
